Proverbs 15:30

Loved today’s devotional, it was a good message and I wanted to write about it.
A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones. Proverbs 15:30

Today’s devotional talked about the bad days, the days where a thousand pinpricks are in your skin. You spill your drink, you trip or stub your toe, you break a glass, the kids flush markers down the toilet and clog it, you lose a precious ring, a tire goes flat. Everything is happening today, all at once it seems. You want to pull your hair out.

Some days I am stressed like this, my husband likes to joke that I tend to slam my head in the car door on certain days. But this devotional talks about how a sweet smile from your child can brighten that terrible day. I also know this feeling. The day could seem ruined, and all I need to do is hear my son laugh, it changes everything. He makes it all worth the effort. It puts everything in perspective, and reminds me that my attitude toward all these events is largely the problem. I need to remember to breathe, to be calm, it is just another day, and that it is all so very worth it to make sure that little man is well cared for and happy.

Thank you God for blessing me with my family, my husband and son. Thank you for giving me challenges to overcome, because I know you don’t challenge me with anything you think I cannot get through. You know me to be strong enough, I just need to try harder. Thank you for blessing me with my son’s laughter, and his smiles, with his ever-growing personality that shines radiantly through the bad days. I will be more patient, I will be calm, I will breathe. We are all here to better ourselves, and as my husband has told me, ‘the hotter the fire, the purer the gold’.
