The Restaurant at the End of the Universe: (Review)

The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finally getting around to this review. The Restaurant at the End of the Universe follows the story started in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I listened to this on audiobook as I did the last one. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed that the versions were different (my husband somehow lost his first copy of Hitchhiker’s guide on audible and they replaced it with a newer one narrated by Stephen Fry, which I had very much enjoyed.) This one was narrated by Martin Freeman, who did a wonderful job, it was just inconsistent with the voices I had previously listened to in the first book so it took some getting used to.

This one was definitely funny, but not as wildly funny and memorable as the first. I have to say one of my favorite scenes in the book was when they met their dinner and Arthur’s reaction to the entire situation.

I won’t go much further as this is already a well-known and loved book. I do have to say that the audiobook was very good, just a bit more difficult to understand than the one Stephen Fry narrated, Martin is a bit quieter I think and the robotic voices were a bit difficult to understand early on when I was listening and cleaning the house.
