The Angel Experiment by James Patterson

I can’t believe I postponed reading this for years. I’ve had several people recommend this book to me and I said ‘yeah okay’ and sort of forgot about it over and over again. It wasn’t until my husband recommended I read it, and then dig out his copy (and the following two books he also had) for me to read, that I actually read it.
I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I thought the book was only about Maximum Ride (the main protagonist) but it is actually about her and the ‘flock’, consisting of Fang, Iggy, Angel, Gasman, and Nudge. All experiments like Max, avian/bird hybrids. I was actually pleasantly surprised to have more than just Max to read about, I like the family unit the flock has.
I also really loved the pacing in this book, the chapter sizes were short, which for a big book makes the reading go easy. Especially when I didn’t have a lot of time to sit and read all at once. I could get in a few short chapters and actually feel like I made progress.
As usual, I won’t get into the synopsis of the book, but I can say that the story is gripping. I even cheated a bit with some plot points because I was desperate to know (thanks wikipedia!). I’ll definitely be looking forward to the next book.
