The Animals of Farthing Wood by Colin Dann

My first introduction to The Animals of Farthing Wood was actually the television show. After having watched that many years ago, I found interest in actually reading the book. Turns out I ended up listening to it, but that was a grand experience as well.
The audiobook I listened to was narrated by two people; Paul Whitehouse and Esther Coles. The contrast in their voices was a nice change of pace between chapters. If I had any complaints, it was that Paul Whitehouse sounds oddly like Noel Fielding, which is fine, but it made taking the chapters seriously a bit difficult. That, and when Paul Whitehouse was narrating, I found it difficult to hear and understand him when I was working. (I listen to audiobooks when cleaning my house, or working). I’d find myself washing dishes, the chapter would change, Esther Coles would stop reading, and then I’d just here mumbling for the next chapter. This resulted in a lot of pauses until my loud work was done, which was bothersome.
I loved this book so much, I think my favorite characters had to be Fox, Badger, Kestrel, and Adder. Was disappointed to see only this book of the set is in audiobook form. I’ll probably get the others in paperback or kindle version. I’ll also be looking to rewatch the show!
